What we do

Much of our work aims to strengthen Indigenous organisations by supporting their staff and facilitating opportunities for all Australians to work in these organisations. The Aurora Education Foundation also run projects aimed at improving educational outcomes for Indigenous Australians.

  • Overview

The Aurora Project was established in 2006 as a result of recommendations from Richard Potok's Report into the Professional Development Needs of NTRB Lawyers in April 2005 (April 2005 Report), which identified two critical stumbling blocks for Native Title Representative Bodies and Native Title Service Providers (collectively, NTRBs) – difficulties in the recruitment of in-house lawyers, and the retention of those lawyers.
