Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory

This Aurora experience has allowed me to gain a glimpse at the range of issues impacting Indigenous communities in the NT, introduced me to a group of amazing workers and community members, and, most of all, fuelled the fire in my belly for social justice.

Patty Veliz, AMSANT

Not only did being placed in Darwin give me the opportunity to see Indigenous culture through a different lens, I also gained new found passion and insight into the broader Indigenous health sector.

Mietta Russell, AMSANT

The AMSANT mob where not only a group of talented and committed individuals, but a group of loving and generous people who allowed me to become part of their team and provided me with life changing opportunities

Patty Veliz, AMSANT

It has been life changing... and not only have a learnt so much more about Indigenous communities, I have also been given hope that I can make a difference.

Patty Veliz, AMSANT

I think using this internship as an opportunity to live somewhere different and put oneself out of one’s comfort zone is the best way to do it.

Henrietta Byrne, AMSANT

The placement has given me an insight into not only the broader health industry, the opportunities available for work in rural/remote locations and basic experience in the work force.

Melanie Johnson, AMSANT

I look forward to pursuing work in the area that AMSANT is working in and (if not with AMSANT) hope to find work with people who are equally inspiring. I can’t speak highly enough of my experience as an intern with Aurora.
